For this job we took a trip down to Milwaukee to update a kitchen and bathroom.

Kitchen

The goal for this kitchen was storage. Before the owners have kids, they wanted lots more storage space. And having three little ones myself, I could totally relate. Between baby bottles, and food for the kids, my kitchen seemed to shrink when we had our first born, Rachel.

Luckily, there was plenty of room to add storage. We added an entire row of upper cabinets. We also added some cabinets under the counter. And since we weren’t installing all new cabinets, we stained the ones we added to match the existing cabinets.

There were also a few functional needs the owners had. They had a big pantry, but the shelves were so deep, food got lost in the back. To solve this, we added slide out shelves, with adjustable heights.  They also cook a lot, and wanted a better way to store and access their spices and cooking equipment. So, we build a dedicated spice cabinet next to the stove, and added a cabinet to store their baking sheets and cutting boards. Not only do they have a lot more storage now, they have a much more functional kitchen too.

To finish off the room, new stainless steel cabinet handles were added. The counters got a makeover too. Finally the customers painted the walls, and installed new tile flooring. For not much money they have a totally redesigned room.

Bathroom

As with the kitchen, the bathroom needed more storage. Originally there was just a pedestal sink, and with kids on the horizon, they needed storage space. The solution was to build a custom vanity. This was particularly fun to do since the owners gave me total creative control. They weren’t entirely sure of what type of design they wanted, but they sent me some pictures of other vanities they liked, and I went to work designing a modern looking piece. When they saw the 3D drawings of what I created, they loved it. And they were just as happy with the finished product.

To finish the room, we added a quartz counter top, and modern faucet. We also updated the closet door and laundry chute door to match the vanity.

Josh & Angie, hopefully the cabinets bring a little extra joy and functionality to your growing home.
